Jan set up EDS in 2016 having previously been employed at Nijhuis H2OK Ltd (2003-2016) and PDP Green Ltd (1997-2003).
He has a wealth of expertise in the delivery of infrastructure for new developments. His specialisms include advising on sustainable drainage, foul water disposal, highways and flood risk.
Jan has overseen the adoption of numerous highways and sewers and is always happy to advise clients on the most cost-effective way to secure the infrastructure needed to enable their development.
Flood risk and development has been a key specialism throughout Jan’s career. He has produced and overseen over 1000 flood risk assessments and has provided advice to developers in planning appeals and planning disputes where flood risk is an issue throughout the country.

Tim is a Director of the Company. He holds an honours degree in Civil Engineering and is a Chartered Civil Engineer; he is a former Member of the Chartered Institute of Water and Environmental Management. He has over 35 years of experience in the water and civil engineering industry working for contactors, consulting engineers and local authorities. As a result, he has gained a vast experience in the delivery of development infrastructure, civil engineering, flood risk assessments and dealing with surface and foul water schemes for all types of development.
Tim worked in his earlier career in the marine civil engineering and salvage environment for consulting engineers and marine contractors. He has worked both above and below the water line, utilising his HSE Part 3 Commercial Diving Qualifications. This phase of his career has provided him with a good understanding of the possibilities and limitations of working in the marine environment.

Ben is an experienced engineer specialising in drainage design including non-mains drainage, surface
water and SuDS. He has over 30 years of experience and can offer bespoke advice to clients on
drainage systems for new builds.
In addition, Ben has undertaken inspections and condition surveys of numerous existing drainage
systems from single plots to holiday parks with many hundreds of units. Following inspection Ben
can advise on system capacity, compliance with current environmental legislation and put forward
proposals for replacement or upgrades, as necessary.

Erica is a key member of the EDS team, leading the way on flood risk assessments foul water drainage design and SuDS schemes for sites ranging from single dwellings to large industrial projects.
She is also experienced in dealing with Environmental Permits, planning conditions and carries out regular site investigation works.
In the office Erica undertakes drainage design work utilising AutoCAD software, and has designed gravity sewers, pump stations and sustainable drainage systems.
In cases where the extent of the floodplain needs to be defined Erica produces hydraulic models of rivers using HEC-RAS, with the results of this work informing development proposals.
Erica holds a Masters Degree in Geography and Geology and is a graduate member of CIWEM (Chartered Institute of Water and Environmental Management). She is working towards chartered status.

Andy has over 8 years’ experience working in the civil and environmental engineering industry for both private and public sector firms. His qualifications include a BSc. Degree in Environmental Science (University of Leeds) and further Environment Agency sponsored FdSc. degree in River and Coastal Engineering (University of the West of England).
His expertise is focused on surface and foul water drainage design, modelling and flood risk assessment. Key software packages used include HEC-RAS and XP Solutions MicroDrainage to provide pipe flow calculations on large drainage networks integrating with Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) modelling. He uses these tools along with Autodesk Civils 3D and AutoCAD to translate complex modelling results into workable design solutions for clients.
He also has experience in providing project management support for a variety of schemes within the civil, water and wastewater sector from enquiry through to commissioning.
Andy has been an Engineering Technician member of the Institution of Civil Engineers since 2015 and is currently working towards becoming a Chartered member of the organisation.

Joshua joined EDS in the Autumn of 2018. His qualifications include a BSc in Geology and Physical Geography (University of Liverpool) and MRes in Applied Marine Sciences (University of Plymouth).
Joshua is our eyes on the ground and deals with site visits including percolation testing in line with BRE 365 and BS 6297 2007, geological and drainage surveys.
He has experience in SuDS design and foul water designs (using MicroDrainage, Site 3D, TEDDS, LIDAR & AutoCAD software.), carrying out flood risk assessments, filling out EA permits / applications, basic highway, and road design.
Joshua is becoming a member of CIWEM (Chartered Institute of Water and Environmental Management) and he is working towards chartered status.

Emma joined EDS in the summer of 2021 having completed a BEng. in Renewable Energy Engineering (University of Exeter). Emma is a keen member of the team and is continuing to progress her design and reporting skills. She designs sustainable drainage systems using MicroDrainage and AutoCAD software. Emma also completes hydraulic models using HEC-RAS and undertakes phosphate neutrality assessments for developments where necessary. Emma is a member of CIWEM and is working towards chartered status.

Leila Joined EDS in the summer of 2022, having completed a BSc in Environmental Resource Management (University of Plymouth), having moved on from studying Marine Science at Falmouth Marine School.
She is experienced in dealing with Environmental Permits and enjoys carrying out regular Percolation testing on-site.
In the office Leila undertakes drainages design work utilising AutoCAD software, MicroDrainage and Lidar data to aid in designing Suds schemes for developments and preparing flood risk assessments.

Umair joined EDS in the summer of 2025. He holds a BSc in Civil Engineering, an MSc in Urban Infrastructure Engineering, and a further MSc in Sustainable Engineering Systems.
He is involved in highway design, surface water and foul water drainage design, and EA permit applications. Umair also regularly undertakes site visits for percolation testing in accordance with BRE 365 and BS 6297, as well as occasional ditch surveys. He uses MicroDrainage, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Site3D as part of his day-to-day design work.
Umair is a Graduate Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and is currently working towards achieving Chartered status.

Michaela joined EDS in the summer of 2025, having just completed a BSc in Environmental Science at Bath Spa University. She is experienced in writing Flood Risk Assessments and goes to site regularly to carry out percolation testing.
In the office, Michaela designs SuDS using MicroDrainage and AutoCAD software, as well as dealing with Environmental Permit applications.
