Lakeside Lodge Holiday Park, North Devon

The owner of a holiday park in North Devon was seeking to expand his holiday offering by providing a further 100+ lakeside lodges within the curtilage of the existing park.

A development of this size in an area of such high environmental status can be contentious and requires careful consideration of its impact on the surrounding area and on the capacity of local infrastructure.

To this end EDS were employed to assist with the drainage and hydrology aspects of the Environmental Impact Assessment for the proposed development and to devise a foul and surface water drainage strategy to serve the new lodges and associated facilities. EDS also prepared a Flood Risk Assessment report in support of the planning application for the park expansion.

Consultations with the incumbent water company, South West Water were also undertaken to successfully negotiate a connection to the local mains drainage system for the development.

With the support of the information provided by EDS, the proposed development received full planning approval from North Devon District Council.
